Krishna's Butter Project

Nurturing Young Minds with Timeless Wisdom!

The Krishna’s Butter Course was initiated in 2015 as a unique program aimed at enhancing children’s self-awareness and personal growth. The course draws inspiration from the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita and seeks to make it accessible and relatable to children aged 8 to 15. The program has successfully reached over 5,000 students worldwide, making a significant impact on their emotional and behavioral development.

The course book, Krishna's Butter – For Champion Students, contains 99 selected shlokas from the Bhagavad Gita along with their translations in English rhymes from Rhythm of Krishna by Sushrut Badhe. For regional languages, the book includes shloka translations in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Sanskrit, Gujarati, and Telugu.

The Genesis of Krishna’s Butter Course

Dr. Bhawana, the visionary behind the course, observed that many postgraduate students, despite being intellectually capable, lacked essential behavioral traits such as self-control and emotional balance. Recognizing the need for early intervention, she collaborated with Shri M.R. Damle to create a simplified curriculum for children based on the Bhagavad Gita. Together, they structured an 18-module program using relatable examples and practical applications to engage young minds effectively.

The program was first introduced to 9th-grade students at Vidyaniketan School, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback. The students reported increased awareness of their desires, improved emotional regulation, and better behavior. Encouraged by its success, the program expanded to schools, tutoring centers, and online platforms.

Krishna's Butter Workshop

The Krishna’s Butter Workshop is a 19-day immersive learning experience designed for children aged 8-15, introducing them to 99 carefully selected shlokas from the Bhagavad Gita. The workshop starts with an introduction to the Gita, its origins, and its role as a timeless spiritual guide that helps individuals navigate life’s challenges. Each chapter is presented with an illustration and an explanation, allowing children to relate Gita’s principles to their everyday experiences.

The program is designed to help children not just memorize but also internalize the wisdom of the Gita in a simple and practical way. The shlokas are carefully selected to resonate with the challenges children face in their daily lives, encouraging them to apply these teachings to find solutions. Each shloka is presented in Sanskrit, followed by transliteration and a poetic translation taken from Rhythm of Krishna by Sushrut Badhe.

The workshop is conducted in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, ensuring accessibility for children from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

The 19th Adhyay

A question that resonates with many is: Did Lord Krishna's guidance to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita pertain only to their time, or does it hold relevance for us today?

In the Gita, Lord Krishna teaches Arjuna how to develop a global perspective and perform his duties righteously. But does this timeless wisdom extend beyond the sacred dialogue between them? The answer is a resounding yes. The philosophy of the Gita does not conclude with the 18th chapter. In fact, there is a living continuation — what we call the "19th Adhyay."

On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, July 16, 2019, Sri Krishna lovingly revealed to our founder, Sri Madhusudan Damle Ji, that the 19th Adhyay is an eternal journey. It symbolizes the ongoing, personal guidance that Lord Krishna offers to those who invoke Him within the temple of their hearts. Just as Krishna guided the divine soul of Arjuna, He continues to guide each of us individually, providing wisdom and support throughout life. The 19th Adhyay reminds us that the Gita's teachings are not confined to the past; they are a perpetual source of guidance, helping us navigate the challenges of life with clarity, purpose, and devotion.

Krishna’s Butter Bhagwadgita

for Adults

The growing popularity of Krishna’s Butter classes for children led to an increasing demand for Bhagavad Gita sessions for adults. As children engaged with the teachings, they began asking their parents insightful questions about the Gita, prompting parents to request their own classes. Recognizing this need, our Founder, Sri Madhusudan Damle, entrusted Sushrut Badhe, author of Bhagavad Gita: Rhythm of Krishna, with the responsibility of leading these sessions. Initially, Sushrutji assumed he would teach the Krishna’s Butter module to adults, but Damleji clarified that he was to conduct full-fledged Bhagavad Gita workshops. Encouraging him, Damleji reminded him that he had translated the entire Gita at just 24, reinforcing his ability to guide adult learners.

With this encouragement, Sushrutji began conducting Bhagavad Gita workshops for adults, offering deep insights into its teachings. To date, he has led 16 workshops, each spanning 20-30 days, educating over 500 adults on the complete Bhagavad Gita. To make this wisdom accessible to all, he has also recorded 32 in-depth episodes, available for free on his YouTube channel, allowing seekers worldwide to explore the profound teachings of the Gita at their own pace.
